Seattle is my home away from home. I have grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a lot of friends who live there. So I love traveling and visiting. Washington itself is a beautiful state as it is. But there is just something about Seattle and the surrounding area. From hiking all over Mt. Rainer or Mt. St. Helens to trekking through the rain forests in the north end of Puget Sound, spending time in a B&B and diving on Orcas Island, wandering Broadway and the Fremont area, shopping at Bell Square, or spending the day in downtown at both malls, the pier, the market place, it’s a simply amazing area.
I’ve been here almost 2 weeks. I arrived just in time to attend some friends and family’s graduation at the University of WA., and I leave this weekend, to head back to San Diego for a month then I am off to Hawaii, and from there to Australia, for a few weeks. Prepping for next school year, I will be spending most of 2 quarters in Hawaii and Australia finishing up my MS. But I need to go in advance to make sure all my arrangements are ready. (Ok yes I could do it online or by phone, but It’s a good excuse to visit even more!)
They don’t hold a candle to Seattle in my opinion. Ok, my heart will always be in San Diego, but if it sank and Seattle was still there, that’s where I’d be going. LOL.
So this post is just to share a few pics from one day of my trip. I’m sure you’ll recognize where they were all taken.
Ok, first off, EVERYONE is obligated to take this pic when they travel to Seattle’s Pike Place Market. They check when you leave at the airport and such. If you do NOT have one of these pics, they actually fine you before they let you leave. So fair warning travelers. LOL
Then we have this. Do you know what it is? My Seattle peeps will know. It’s one of the most disgusting things that doesn’t occur naturally in nature. It’s the Seattle Gum Wall. Gross right? No, I did NOT add to it. I didn’t even want to touch it. I’ll let a sea cucumber regurgitates its insides on me, but I will not touch a wall full of people’s chewed gum and saliva. LOL
Stopped at a used bookstore down under the Market in the shops. I spent sooooooooo much money on things I did NOT need. LOL There were a few I did need though. Like these two books. Total cost, $6.00 give or take. I love used bookstores.
Of course, these, were a must-have. I am not ashamed to say I bought one of each. LOL they will be sitting in my den on my bookshelves, spaced throughout, so they can creepily stare down at people when they are in there.
Oh Seattle, you’re stereotyping yourself here. LOL Yes, that is a Starbucks line.
One of my friends I was with yelled at me for touching things in this store…
Seattle: “Oh you do chainsaw woodcarvings huh…..hold m beer.” LOL
Ok, EVERY damn time I am here I get taken here for lunch or dinner. It’s an amazing place if you’re not a vegan. Check out their menu, you carnivores will love it. Their garden salad is awesome too LOL.
Just a few of the many many beautiful views from the piers. Yes we did ride the Great Wheel.
And no trip to the Seattle Waterfront is complete unless you visit Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. This place is a part of Seattle history and culture. It holds some of the weirdest shit you’ll ever see, and has candy you’ve probably never heard of.
That’s just a few highlights of one day. We spent a day in Pioneer Square and Chinatown, One hitting soooooooooooo many malls. I think Seattle has one of the largest per capita mall counts in the U.S. in King County. LOL.
We did indeed spend a couple of nights in a B&B and diving, a day at the Seattle Center and EMP (Experience Music Project), with drinks at the Loup Lounge at the Space Needle.
Ok, There was a lot of working out and training at a couple of Dojos for Judo and Karate my Sensei’s sent me to. They are also making sure I have a place in both Hawaii and Australia, so my training doesn’t falter for long periods of time.
There has also been a LOT of family and friends time, and tomorrow, I will be getting my gamer girl geek on with a 48-hour, old school Dungeons and Dragons TABLETOP game with friends.
Seattle, once again, you have exceeded expectations. I love you guys up there!
